An excellent choice for a quick growing, adaptable, and pest free tree. Quercus acutissima is a large, attractive, wide-spreading, deciduous tree. On mature trees the branches are covered with pendant, golden catkins in spring. These are soon followed by new leaves which emerge a light yellow-green creating an exquisitely warm glow. The handsome bark is gray-brown and deeply ridged and furrowed, almost cork-like. Leaves are up to seven inches long and sharply serrate on the margins, very similar in shape to a chestnut (Castanea) leaf.
