'Gibraltar' is an Exbury hybrid introduced in 1947. It has large ball-shaped trusses of 2 3/8 to 3 in. wide flowers with broad, frilly lobed, vivid orange petals. It is an upright shrub that grows 4 to 6 ft. tall and 3 to 5 ft. wide. 'Gibraltar' received Rhododendron of the Year honors in 2007 from the American Rhododendron Society.
